Late Summer Harvest

Shorn fields
With cylinders
Of hay
Dotted around
Mark the
Season's
Harvest

From the Moor to the Sea

From purple heather
And golden gorse
We walked
Along footpaths
To admire
The blue
Of the Sea.

Resting in Sunshine

On a warm and windy
Afternoon
A butterfly
Settled nearby
And rested
Awhile.

Eventide

Clouds rolling in
Multi-coloured
And intense
As birds
Fly homeward.

Communal Meal

Waiting patiently,
For the most part,
The sparrows
Take turns
Having their lunch
On a warm sunny
Saturday.

Farmers' Market

Among the many stalls
Of farm and other produce
A line of cars draw up
To drive from Land's End
To John O' Groats
A relay involving a pasty
And all for a good cause
To raise money for charity.

Better than Expected

Gloomy predictions
Of showers of rain
Were replaced
By blue skies
And glorious sunshine.

Golden Ornamentation

Sun streaked clouds
Layer the blue -
Intricate
In their arrangement
And their
Dimensional
Elevation.

Rose Window

Intricately carved
Blazing with light
And colour
Truly a feat
Of creativity.

Butterfly

Caught for a second
Against the
Undergrowth
As the butterfly
Rests in the sun.

Gardening and Peace

A little bit of work
Is followed by
A period of
Peace and
Relaxation
In my
Garden.

A Pleasant Break

Finally
After so
Much grey
And gloom,
A beautiful
Day of
Blue sky
And sun
To gladden
The heart
And lift
The spirits.

New Day, New Start

Every day
Is a new
And wonderful
Opportunity
To start anew.

Nature's Teaching

By watching birds feed,
Noticing their behaviour,
I learned a deep truth.

Hide And Seek

Perched in
The thicket
The robin
Spies me
And moves on
A little further
Playing a game
Of Hide and Seek!

Quiet Thoughts

Rain patters softly
Whilst hidden in the willow
Sparrows cheep quietly.

Courage

What courage
It must have taken
That woman in Birmingham
To stand up to the rioters
To protect her shop.
And it worked.
Her courage was rewarded.
Perhaps there is a lesson
To be leaned here?
She has earned my sincere
Admiration for what she did.

Passion Flower

So beautiful
Yet so intricate
In so many ways,
The Passion Flower
Invites investigation.

A little bit of this . .

And a little bit of that
Describes today perfectly
Sunshine and then rain
Gardening, writing
And playing my flute.
Time to have many
Experiences.

An Abundance of Light

With the sound
Of cows in the distance
And the evening moving into

Are made manifest

The light from
The Sun
Sets the clouds
On fire.

Mediterranean

With the sun,
The bright colours
And the sea
It could almost be
Mediterranean.

Seeking Inspiration

It's grey and humid
And my mind
Is seeking
