My name is Liz Allmark and I live in a beautiful part of Cornwall where I feel deeply connected with the Earth and sea around me and to the Divinity both inside and out!
From the rain
For a while
Until it returned again
In heavy showers.
Nevertheless we walk
Glad to breathe fresh air
And feel the breeze
And occasional sunshine
On our skins.
I visited on Open Day
To sing with a choir;
I wished I could stay
But it was raining
And I had a bus
To catch . . .
I promised my friend
We would return
And explore
Sometime soon.
This morning I helped on the Friends of the Earth's stall at the Penzance Green Fair. They are orchestrating a campaign to urge the government to launch a National Bee Action Plan, because many of our native species are under threat due to pesticide use and farming practices. I was shocked to find out that many pesticides that are available for household use are dangerous to bees. So if you find a petition near you, on this topic, I would invite you to seriously consider signing it.
At first thick, grey, cloying
Sounds muffled, vision obscured
But gently, ever so gently
As the sun warms the land
Wisps evaporate
And all becomes clearer.
